KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional’s double victory in the Batu Sapi and Galas by-elections reflects the people’s confidence in the coalition, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

“This is particularly true in the context of transformation that is being championed by the Barisan Government with the tabling of detailed and thorough plans,” he told Bernama in a telephone interview on Thursday night.

Najib, who is currently on leave after contracting chicken pox, said he was “very happy with the victories” and described them as wins for the people and voters in the two constituencies.

“They have placed their trust and confidence in Barisan to bring progress and better prosperity to the residents in Batu Sapi and Galas.

“I give my assurance that the Barisan pledges in Galas and Batu Sapi will be fulfilled,” he said.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the victories in two by-elections with different profiles proved that Barisan’s development agenda remained relevant and strong among the people.
