Only secondary school students above 16 who have the consent of their parents are allowed to solicit for public donations, said Deputy Education Minster Dr Mohd Puad Zarkarshi.

The ministry, he said, would not allow those below 16 to solicit for funds outside the school as it involved the safety of students.

He said this was among the conditions stipulated in three Education Ministry circulars which schools had to abide by or be penalised.
