Unisel students locked out of hostel
PETALING JAYA: Universiti Selangor (Unisel) students returning to the Bestari Jaya campus after a month’s semester break received a rude shock when they were unable to get the keys to their apartment units.
The students, who were scheduled to start classes today, were left in the lurch as the on-campus office of Syarikat Jana Niaga Sdn Bhd (JNSB), which manages the hostel facilities, remained closed.
Several students, when met on the campus grounds yesterday, believed that the JNSB office was closed in protest for not being paid its dues by the university.
Selangor Barisan Nasional deputy chairman Datuk Seri Noh Omar alleged recently that Unisel owed JNSB almost RM15mil.
Unisel student council exco member Muhammad Shazril Ahmad Shukri said the office was supposed to be open from last Friday.
He said Unisel had also announced yesterday that the semester break would be extended to Aug 27 while it sorted out the problem with JNSB.
