Young ones throwing their weight behind MCA, says Kong
KUALA LUMPUR: The young have confidence in MCA as among the 50,000-odd members recruited in the last four years, 70% are below the age of 45.
This reflected the people’s endorsement of the party’s direction and MCA’s role in the country, party secretary-general Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha said.
He attributed the trend to “a more stable and united MCA under the leadership of party president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek”.
Acknowledging that MCA had lost ground after the last general election, Kong said the party had managed to “make a comeback” after Dr Chua helmed the party two years ago.
“We are more stable and united to face the challenges ahead, particularly the coming general election,” Kong said, adding that ties between MCA, non-governmental organisations and the people were closer now.
“The president and party leaders have been actively holding dialogues with them (NG0s and the people) to have a better understanding of their situation so as to resolve their problems.”
