New evidence of Lim Guan Eng trying to blur the role of CRCC

The title of “master of trickery” is most suitable for Lim Guan Eng, who is now caught lying to the Penang State Assembly.

He labelled me as the “political serial liar”, when in fact he seems to be suffering from multiple personality disorder. His “tricks” are so well made up that he has deluded himself into deceiving the public and built up a false reputation.

Initially, I could not fathom why Lim Guan Eng can be so shameless in lying through his teeth. He justifies his claims confidently without the backing of concrete proof, and attempts to shift the public’s attention without skipping a beat. His skills are indeed unprecedented.

And now I have discovered another evidence of Lim Guan Eng trying to blur the role of CRCC, which led me to accept the fact that Lim would even lie to the august Penang State Assembly, let alone members of the public who have trusted him and yet, misled by him all this while.

On 29 Nov 2013, Lim Guan Eng, as the Penang Chief Minister, was presenting the Penang State Budget for 2014 at the State Assembly. The Chinese version of the Budget stated that the Penang state government had signed a preliminary agreement with Consortium Zenith BUCG Sdn Bhd, which included CRCC and BUCG in its set-up.

The Malay version of the speech also had the same point. Page 7 reads, “Kerajaan Negeri telah menandatangani perjanjian awal dengan Consortum Zenith BUCG Sdn Bhd dengan disertai oleh China Railway Construction Corporation International (CRCC) dan Beijing Urban Construction Group (BUCG).”

In his press conference on 6 Feb 2018, Lim Guan Eng challenged the people to prove that he had said that CRCC was a shareholder and insisted that he had never said so. He blamed MCA for harping on this point and even said that he would admit his mistake if he had indeed said it. On the same day, I proved that he had published an open letter in the 16-31 March 2013 edition of Buletin Mutiara that the state government had awarded the tender to Consortium Zenith BUCG, an SPV set up by a joint venture between Construction Zenith and CRCC along with BUCG, Sri Tinggi Sdn Bhd and Juteras Sdn Bhd. The open letter also included a breakdown of the SPV’s structure. With CRCC in the picture, the SPV had a paid-up capital of RM4.5bil. Lim Guan Eng had repeated four times between March and April 2013 that the paid-up capital of the SPV was RM4.5bil.

However, the next day, Lim Guan Eng issued another statement to point out that the proof I had presented was before the inking of the agreement between three parties on 6 Oct 2013. Therefore, he said whatever was said before that was not as important or relevant.
What I am sharing here today is his speech in the State Assembly on 29 Nov 2013, which is a month after the inking and stamping of the agreement. The content of his speech, which was posted on the official website of DUN Penang, is the same as that in his open letter in the 16-31 March 2013 edition of Buletin Mutiara. Lim Guan Eng’s previous attempt in drawing a line between his statements before and after the inking of the agreement is clearly a trick to deceive the public.

This Budget speech has proven that Lim Guan Eng was not only lying to the public, but had also lied, misled and confused the State Assembly because “disertai oleh” means CRCC is a shareholder and part of the SPV.

Furthermore, Lim Guan Eng delayed showing the agreement's content until January 2018, which tells us that the agreement was signed between the Penang state government and the four companies listed in the SPV, which excludes CRCC. This proves that his earlier statements on the Penang state government signing a preliminary agreement with Consortium Zenith BUCG Sdn Bhd, which included CRCC and BUCG, were utter lies. CRCC was not a signatory to the preliminary agreement. The agreement stated that it was signed between Penang government and the SPV.

The mistake is glaring but I believe Lim Guan Eng will still find excuses to spin the facts. He will never apologise and admit his mistake, because if he did so, it will erode the people’s trust in him. He tried so hard to blur the role of CRCC in 2013 just before the 13th general election, and now as the 14th general election looms, he is trying to do the same thing again despite solid proof. He does not wish to see people waking up and spoiling his plan to wrestle Putrajaya and to cheat and deceive Malaysians nationwide.

Deceive the public through a false reputation is the only trick up Lim Guan Eng’s sleeve. Armed with people’s trust in him, he has been empowered to cheat the people. He needs to constantly cover up a lie with another lie, and to twist the facts in order to make people fall for his trap despite his unrefined ways.

He said I am a “liar” who repeatedly lied about the Penang undersea tunnel and three main roads project. He also said that I still harp on the issue despite the Penang state government proving me wrong. But he is the one who is twisting the facts. I did not say that CRCC is a shareholder in the SPV - what I am saying is, Lim Guan Eng misled the people into thinking that CRCC is a shareholder through the information he repeatedly shared.

Lim Guan Eng, as the “consummate trickster”, has been dishing out different explanations on the role of CRCC. He is a conman through and through. He plays the roles of different tricksters and even plays the then and now of Lim Guan Eng. His skills are indeed brilliant!

MCA is not as smooth as Lim Guan Eng. We do not know how to charm people with sweet words like he has done. As the saying goes, “sound advice is usually not pleasant to the ears, and getting to the bottom of the truth is far less attractive than flowery nothings.” This is why Lim Guan Eng is bold enough to cover the truths and deceive the people. As for MCA, we can only focus on unearthing more evidence in order to show people the true colours of a trickster.
