The two MCA-founded institutions, Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TARUC) and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), are distinct and separate bodies. To prevent confusion amongst readers, the MCA Publicity Bureau recommends the following designation for reports by the  media pertaining to these institutions:

拉曼大学学院（TARUC, Tunku Abdul Rahman University College）as “拉曼” (Rahman).

拉曼大学（UTAR, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman）as “优大” (UTAR).

The ongoing issue instigated by the Pakatan Harapan in slashing allocations affects TARUC, i.e. “拉曼” (Rahman).
